Mel KempCanada's leading residential furniture manufacturers were honoured on January 8, 1999 at the Industry's 25th Annual Trillium Awards Gala in Mississauga, Ontario. CANWOOD FURNITURE INC, of Penticton, BC, was the recipient of two Trillium awards, taking top marks in the Ready-To-Assemble Bedroom and Tables categories.

The Trillium Awards recognize styling, value, and marketability with winners selected by a 10 member Jury of prominent Canadian Retailers. Since its inception, the Trillium Award has been recognized as a "Symbol of Excellence".

Mel Kemp, President of Canwood, noted that, "We are extremely pleased to receive this recognition from the Industry", and went on to describe some of the features of the Company's winning entries. "Our Alpine Bed Series is affordable, yet extremely versatile allowing the consumer to create a variety of configurations. For example, in addition to conventional twin over twin bunks and loft beds, Alpine beds may be combined in twin over full-size, or even full over full. The casual lifestyle appeal of Alpine is also complemented by a wide assortment of chests, dressers and desks."


Canwood's Occasional Table Collection was also selected for a Trillium award. Larry Schwartzenberger, US Sales Manager commented, "This beautiful collection also exudes the warmth and character of BC Lodgepole Pine and may be used in conjunction with our Home Entertainment and Wall System products."

The Trillium Awards, presented annually, recognize achievement in marketing, production, design, and consumer value for household furniture manufactured in Canada. The Trillium Awards are sponsored by the Ontario Furniture Manufacturers' Association.

Winners are selected by a jury representing the furniture industry, using criteria based on styling, serviceability and dollar value.

The Trillium Award is perceived as a "Symbol of Excellence" for household furniture.
